World Vision: Illustration Volunteers

World Vision Singapore is currently looking for caricaturists or artists who are good in hand-lettering (ability to draw pretty letters like calligraphy) to be involved in a one-day event on a pro bono basis.

They are organising a non-competitive race called the “Race for Relief” that will be held on the 15th of July, from 4pm-7:30pm. This race is meant to raise awareness and funds for the 22 million (or so) families who have suffered from droughts, warfare and famines in East Africa. A carnival will run concurrently with the race where families and less athletically ambitious people would probably hang out.

Thus, they’re looking for caricaturists who’d be given a space to draw caricatures for people for $10 per head. Hand-lettering artists will be called to teach mini “workshops” in how to do hand-lettering to anyone who is interested. It may be about $20 per head. All proceeds head to relief efforts in East Africa. Interested volunteers will have to report slightly earlier at about 3:30pm.

If you’re interested in volunteering, do email me at Here is the website for more details and you may always Facebook message me if you have any other questions. Before this, there’s another event happening from 9 - 3pm called ‘Project Hunger Free’ that is targeted to those interested in knowing more about development work. There’ll be seminars covering topics on food insecurity, humanitarian crisis management, community advocacy and so on. The speakers are World Vision staff who have considerable experience working in the field.
